Job Posting: State Support Team Region 15: Early Childhood Specialist Consultant
Region 15 State Support Team is recruiting a part-time (56 days) Early Childhood Specialist Consultant to provide professional development, coaching, technical assistance, and disseminates information to school districts and parents in Lawrence, Pike, Scioto, and Ross Counties. The successful candidate will have excellent customer service skills, and have the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail.
Responsibilities: The SST Early Childhood Specialist Consultant will implement the full scope of work the Department of Children and Youth adhering to required grant deliverable and use of required tools, Ross Pike ESD Policies and Procedures, and Region 15 SST practices.
Provision for this work include a knowledge of early childhood curriculum and assessment practices, knowledge of evidence based processes and instructional practices including development and implementation of academic behavior supports, delivery of high quality professional development, provide coaching and consultation for school district personnel, regional early childhood community providers, and parents with the goal of building the capacity of local and related education agencies and their educators to engage in systemic and sustainable improvement that impacts outcomes for all students, especially those ages three to grade three. The Early Childhood Specialist Consultant will be expected to remain current with research and evidence-based practice; to participate in ongoing professional growth activities; attend local, regional, and state level meetings/trainings; and to collaborate with SST colleagues, district, and agency partners, and with the Ohio Department of Education.
Qualifications: The following are the minimum qualifications of the personnel:
Applicant must hold an Ohio Administrative License or commit to an accredited administrative program to fulfill Ohio’s Administrative Requirements outlined in law to be completed within a specified timeline to acquire expertise in the area for which an employee has primary responsibility (i.e., education, early childhood education, special education, education administration and/or appropriate related field or evidence of equivalency); i. A bachelor’s degree or higher in one of the following areas early childhood education, child development, family studies, or a related field with a focus, concentration, or licensure in early childhood education; ii. Relevant specialized training which could be met through completion
of a master’s degree or higher in a related field, completion of a professional development program accredited by the International Dyslexia Association (accreditation or accreditation plus level), reading or literacy endorsement on a valid state educator license, or DCY approved alternative specialized training; iii. A minimum of three years of successful classroom teaching that includes reading and literacy instruction in the early childhood years;
and iv. A minimum of two years of experience providing support and/or services to those who work with preschool age children in one of the following capacities: administrator and/or supervisor, professional development provider, technical assistance provider, or teacher mentor. Other qualifications: experience with infants and toddlers; have expertise and/or significant leadership experience in several of the following areas: IDEA, LRE Itinerate Services, Step Up to Quality; Child Outcome Summary, Part C to B Transition, ETR/IEP writing processes, Knowledge of Creative Curriculum, Play Based Assessment, Early Childhood Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports, training/onboarding of Preschool Supervisors, Operating Standards for Children with Disabilities; Evidence-based processes and instructional practices, including development and implementation of academic and behavior supports; Evidence-based emergent and early language and literacy development grounded in the science of reading; UDL and differentiated instruction; Coaching and consultation skills; Implementation and monitoring of improvement efforts; Culturally responsive and equitable systems and practices; Delivery of high-quality professional learning and technical assistance; Early childhood education, preschool special education, early education preschool to grade 3, or other early childhood settings such as Head Start or community-based childcare; Special designed instruction and provision of free appropriate public education in the least restrictive environment (special education); and/or Parent, family and community engagement; Experience as a provider of professional development and technical assistance; Experience with culturally responsive practices; Knowledge of how to analyze and use student data and adult implementation data; experience with working with administrators; Experience facilitating or participating in the Ohio’s IMTSS; Preference will be given to individuals with substantial literacy experience aligned to the Ohio Department of Education’s vision for literacy achievement and administrative experience.
Salary and Benefits: Commensurate with training and experience.
