Job Posting: State Support Team Regional Mathematics Specialist
Region 15 State Support Team is recruiting a full-time consultant with expertise and a deep understanding of mathematics. SST15 provides professional development, coaching, technical assistance, and disseminates information to school districts and parents in Lawrence, Pike, Scioto, and Ross Counties. A successful candidate must have a valid Ohio Administrative License, excellent customer service skills, be outcome oriented, strong attention to detail, and the ability to be self-motivated to work in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities: As a member of the Region 15 State Support Team, the SST Consultant will implement the full scope of work associated with the 2025-26 State Support Team ODEW Grant Agreement, adhering to processes and tools, Ross Pike ESD Policies and Procedures, and Region 15 SST practices.
Responsibilities include but will not be limited to implementing the Scope of Work for the Regional Mathematics Specialist funded through the Department of Education and Workforce, providing intensive coaching support to district/school with the Statewide Mathematics Plan.
The Consultant will be expected to remain current with research, and evidence-based practice; to participate in ongoing professional growth activities; and to collaborate with SST colleagues, district, and agency partners, and with the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce.
Qualifications: Applicant must hold an Ohio Administrative License or commit to an accredited administrative program to fulfill Ohio’s Administrative Requirements outlined in law to be completed within a specified timeline; Must hold an Ohio teaching license; Demonstrated expertise in improving student learning through research- and evidence-based instructional strategies for mathematics; Comprehensive knowledge of Ohio’s Plan for K12 Mathematics, Ohio Learning Standards for Mathematics, Standards for Mathematical Practice, and Effective Mathematics Teaching Practices; Experience delivering mathematics instruction within a Universal Design for Learning educational framework; Understanding of differentiation of instruction through the use of high-quality instructional materials; A minimum of three to five years of successful classroom teaching experience in mathematics instruction across K-12 grade levels; Proven experience in designing and delivering professional learning and technical assistance designed to improve instructional practices for educators; Strong coaching and consulting skills to support teachers in implementing the Standards for Mathematical Practice and Effective Mathematics Teaching Practices; Ability to analyze and apply student performance data, including data for student groups including but not limited to students with disabilities, to enhance instruction and curriculum alignment; Experience working with administrators to implement systemic improvements in mathematics education, particularly for students in lower performing student groups; An understanding of integrated Multi-Tiered System of Supports (IMTSS), including Tier 1 core instruction and Tier 2 & 3 interventions with databased individualization.
The following are the preferred qualifications of the personnel: A master’s degree in mathematics, mathematics education, or a related field (curriculum, administration, etc.); Experience providing instruction in special education, with a master’s degree in special education/intervention specialist license; Experience providing instruction to individuals with dyscalculia or individuals experiencing mathematics difficulties; Experience providing and coaching for mathematics instruction; Experience facilitating and interpreting screening measures for identifying students at risk for mathematics failure; and Familiarity with Ohio Materials Matter and its role in 120 American Boulevard, Piketon, OH 45661 Open: Until filled 100 supporting high-quality instructional resources. Expertise and significant leadership experience in the following: Implementation of IDEA and ESSA; Data analysis, including data-based decision making with a thorough understanding of Ohio’s Accountability System and Special Education Profiles and Ratings; Use of the Ohio Improvement Process for implementation and monitoring for improvement efforts; Use of EDSteps; Understand Focused planning, including use of strategic problem solving; Understanding of Multi-tiered System of Supports; Understanding of early warning indicators to include attendance, behavior and course performance (academic) supports; Understanding of evidence based instructional practices, particularly explicit instruction; Understanding of Universal Design for Learning and Differentiation; Expertise in Delivery of high quality professional development/technical assistance; Have Assessment literacy; Knowledge of Family and Community Engagement; Have knowledge of Secondary Transition and Culturally responsive practices; Have a basic awareness of early language and literacy; Expertise in special education and educational administration.
